Happy Solstice

The solstice occurs tonight at 10:30 or so, making today the shortest day of the year. I don't think Joe and I will be celebrating tonight - rather, I think we'll wait until tomorrow, and celebrate the sun's return.

There's a good chance I can talk my sisters into a bonfire tonight, though. That sounds pretty celebratory to me :) And there will be yoga. This will be a good solstice.

(Yes, we're in Rexburg. Oh, my family! I love being home with them.)

I do love the imagery of the solstice - embracing the dark, and letting it go to make room for the light to return. I'm learning to love winter for what it is: dark and cold, quiet, reflective - and celebratory and wild, a time for embrace and release.

Oh, and I got my grades last night - straight A's for the first time since I was 13 or so! Hell yeah! (I'm really, really excited. My GPA is already up like .3 points.)

Someday I will spend a solstice here.
